Saban 2007 predictions

Will St. Nick be successful at Alabama? Maybe, if he can recruit like he did at LSU. 2006? Not so much, but hey nobody asked us. Here’s how we see next season shaping up for Nick:

Western Carolina: Win against a 1-AA school. Good thing the sagarin computers aren’t watching yet. Whoppee, you’re tied with USC, LSU, and Michigan, and almost sure to be nationally ranked because the media will just chalk it up to Nick Saban being a great coach, and not a big team beating the shit out of a much weaker team that isn’t even in the same division.  1-0

Vanderbilt: Probably will win this one, but I wouldn’t put it past Bobby Johnson who upset Georgia last season. Bama wins a close one, 2-0, possibly ranked in the teens.

Arkansas: Automatic loss: Mcfadden shreds the Alabama D, leaving nothing but the dead for Reggie fish to hang a few touchdowns in cleanup time. This won’t even be close. 2-1, Alabama quietly drops out of the top 25.

Georgia: Automatic loss: Richt is a good coach, lots of players returning, more maturity, etc;. 2-2, no media storm brewing yet.

Florida State: Loss.  Jimbo fisher knows Saban’s scheme inside and out, and FSU has had some fantastic recruits in the past few years. FSU by 2-3 touchdowns. 2-3, media storm brewing.

Houston: Possible loss, see “saban theory” about how he always loses to one shitty team a year.   If Saban is 2-4, the meltdown in the Tuscaloosa message board begins. If he’s 3-3, it’s a quiet media week.

Ole Miss: Ed Orgeron is still looking for a signature win. With three solid recruiting classes under his belt, he beats Saban by a small margin on a trick play that Saban would never have the balls to run.  Either 2-5 (Tuscaloosa media meltdown) or 3-4.

Tennessee: Loss. Eric Ainge is all grownsed up!  2-6 (ESPN calls for senate hearings on college football compensation) or 3-5.

Mississippi State: Possible Loss (see saban theory). Sly Croom actually plays tough sometimes. 2-7 or 3-6. Either way, Mal Moore’s got egg on his face.

LSU: Automatic loss, and it’s a blowout. Make no mistake about it, Les Miles is pissed about Saban taking credit for the 2005-2006 seasons. Unlike his predecessor, Les Miles knows how to blowout an opponent.  LSU’s talent is just too good. 2-8 or 3-7.

Louisiana-Monroe: Probably a win, but see the Saban Theory.  3-8 record for sure.

Auburn:  Tubby is going to make a statement to all the recruits in Alabama. If you want to win, you’re a war eagle. 3-9 record.

There will be as much media attention to Saban’s dismal performance as there is to the highsman trophy winner, which will go to either Darren McFadden or Brian Brohm.

I like Coach Miles and he has done a fine job at LSU. What Coach Saban does is his business. He is no longer our coach and it is the BOT fault for letting him go. They should have up the anti as did Alabama. Stop yo damn crying. Had the BOT did its job this would not be a conversation.

  2. Cooter Says:

He was here in Baton Rouge. I do not see why he wouldn’t be at a school that has a piss load of SEC and NC titles. Lets just get behind our coach (Miles) and watch him win. While do we embarrass ourselves acting like fools over Saban. Why?

  3. lsufootballanalyst Says:

Thanks for the reply cooter. Miles has done better than a fine job, he has done an unbelievable job. Not everybody can put together 2 10 win seasons, after going through a Hurricane,

LSU’s BOT did the right thing by letting Saban leave. He was already the highest paid coach in college football at the time. Saban fucked over LSU. I’m over it but it doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten it. The guy is a gaping asshole, and deserves the misery he will have at Bama. Especially after he got Shula fired.

By the way, nice job on bringing tradition into the argument. Bama hasn’t done shit in over 10 years. If he wanted to go to a school with Tradition, he could coach at Army, Washington, or Stanford.

Now stop arguing with me and lets whup some bama ass.

LSWho fans are still crying how ever many yrs later after losing Saban! You guys won a Nat’l championship and could have been referred to as dogs rather than tigers by the way u were licking his balls! STFU! Roll tide!! And YES, SABAN getts all the credit, every major sports station in the Nation knew who brought Russel and the rest of the 1st rounders into LSU at that my friend is why your crying has just begun and will not end anytime soon. Have fun at the bottom of the SEC cause that is where u are headed my friend!

  5. Gabe Says:

3-9? That is hilarious. At WORST, Bama goes 7-5. With a few breaks they could go 9-3.

  6. T Sanders Says:

Who ever wrote this article about Bama losing 9 games must have been on crack when they wrote it. Dream on Bama haters.

  7. MICHAEL JOHNSTON Says:

I would like to meet this dip shit that wrote this post about SABAN. First of all I wouldn’t expect Ainge to do much this season. His knee surgery didn’t go as well as expected. The doctors involved warned Ainge of the risks of being hit on the knee after the surgery. I’ve been told by several vile fans that Ainge will lose 50% of his mobility this season. He was already as slow as xmas. Secondly, Georgia & Arkansas lost several key lineman on both sides of the ball. Auburn replaces several key skilled position players including their best RB & WR. The tigers also have 0 depth at WR. I hope all those redshirted freshman WR can play SEC caliber ball. Auburn also like the dogs & other tigers lost several key lineman on both sides of the ball. LSU has a very unproven QB situation. Flynn did play a great game against the thugs from south florida but that game was 2 years ago.

Nobody is doubting Nick’s greatness as a coach, it’s his incoming talent level that’s suspect. He’s got a bitch of a schedule, and a rabid fan base that just chased off a coach that went 10-2 the previous year. Great coaches lose all the time (see Dennis Erickson, Bobby Ross, hell even Bowden’s had a down year every now and then).

The level of coaching talent in the rest of the SEC is also no joke. Why do you think Pete Carroll is so happy at USC? Would Rich Rodriguez cut it at Kentucky? C’mon folks, you’re dreaming if you think the world will remember what Nick Saban did at LSU if he is unsuccessful at ‘Bama (see Dennis Erickson and the littany of other coaches who have won national champions and have been unsuccessful after switching jobs).

I wrote this article months ago and now people are responding to it. The question is will he be successful in the 2007 campaign:
Automatic Wins for Bama: Western Carolina, ULM, MIssisipi State.
Games that will be a contest: Vanderbilt, Houston, Ole Miss
Bama has no shot: Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Arkansas, Florida State.

Stafford is a year wiser, I don’t care who’s coaching, they simply can’t stop Darren McFadden, Florida State will be MUCH improved with Jimbo at the helm. If Saban can beat Auburn and LSU he’s a better coach than I thought he was, but he’s just not going to beat them.

Seriously, get a life, at best Bama goes 6-6, and at the worst, they’re 3-9

    SSS

  10. chris Says:

wow, you say florida state improves with jimbo at the helm??true, but y wouldnt alabama improve with saban at the helm?? now u know your just being bias. And stafford. another year of experince…to tell you the truth…what did he do better than any other freshamn QB that made him look promising? And darren mcfadden…who was the only team that kept him under 100 yards…under 90 yards..wait……80 yards…bama’s defense held him under 80 yards….that should have been a W on the schedule if it wasnt for their poor kicking. I dont see how thats an automatic loss?
And auburn, lost 4 of 5 satrting offensive lineman, and thier true running back, and a top SEC reciever. With Cox never proving to anyone he can excell, i dotn see how their offense will be able to even score some games…then their defense…lost 5 starters..pretty good for most teams but when its your best DT and LB thats leaving, it gona hurt, and it will show on the field. And last, LSU..the fan favorite to all..hmm…who brought everyone of those recruits to LSU that miles coached to a sugar bowl..saban…and went to be 1st round picks…saban..miles and meyer still havent shown what they can do with their own players. wow, i love bias LSU fans.

  11. lsufootballanalyst Says:

    Ahhh….another delusional Bama Fan.

Chris, you’re certainly entitled to your opinions. Let’s take them one by one:
    1) Florida State: Did you see Jeff Bowden’s offense? Did you see Florida State’s Recruiting class? Do you know what Jimbo Fisher can do with that type of talent? Nobody’s saying Florida State will win it all, but they’ll beat Bama’s ass.
    2) Georgia: Stafford was solid at the end of the season. If you weren’t too busy putting “For Sale” signs on Shula’s front lawn you would have seen that.
    3) Arkansas: You’re right, Bama’s D was good last year. You lost some really good guys on D, and you still haven’t found a running back. McFadden is going to run over you like a drunk Craig MacTavish in a playground.
    3) Auburn: You have some legitimate points about experience leaving the farm. You have yet to show me who on Bama is going to step up and be a prime time player.
    4) LSU: I also know that Saban never beats an SEC team that is supposed to beat the tar out of him, and that he loses one game to a team he should smoke per year. Saban won an SEC title with Gerry Dinardo’s talent, and never had two 10 win seasons in a row.

Y’all are pretty confident about a coach that stunk it up in the pros and has proven to be a quitter. You will run him out of town if he doesn’t win an SEC title in 4 years. He is the lipstick that is on the pig called BAMA.

  12. Corky Says:

There is one variable all of you have omitted, Steve Spurriur, who has been recruting well, and I might add, was in the top ten last year. Yep he is teaching that ole [fun in the sun offense] to those young guys and may very well be the sleeper this year. And by the way BAMA FANS the most SNOBBISH fans in the country, you only hired Saban because the school thinks they can buy a championship, but because BAMA has to compete in that sate with Tubby for recruits I don,t see it happening fast enough for Saban to stay there. Face it ya,ll, the days of unlimited scholarships, and paying players to go there are over, and the big money schools have a level playing field with other schools. The Bear could not do what he did during his tenure, with the rules of today, because he could not get the players today like he once did. Joe Namath said it all when he said Bear put together two teams to play a game because everyone was on scholarship he could recruit any player he wanted.

  13. Corky Says:

For all you Bama fans: attention Bear Bryant has left the building! Oh and Joe Namath has retired!

Yeah, so how’s those St. Nick predictions coming so far? I think that media storm has already started brewing…in fact ESPN is setting up right now on the Walk of Champions right by Bryant Denny Stadium…Have fun watching Game Day this Saturday on ESPN.

  17. Rob Says:

Yeah, great predictions bub. I especially like the “automatic loss” given to the Arkansas game. Roll Tide!

  18. lsufootballanalyst Says:

Hey, kudos to Bama — you guys are much better than I expected. The improvement is with Major Applewhite’s offense, I’m shocked at how penetrable your D looks though.

That being said, thanks for the trash talk — you were very lucky against Arkansas, and you did recently choke against Georgia. You’ll probably beat Florida State.

Houston will be a difficult contest, and you’ll lose to Tennessee and Ole Miss.

  19. devin Says:

Who Ever This Jackass Is Your Predictions SUCK ASS! Over All Record 9-3
    ROLL TIDE!!!

  20. lsufootballanalyst Says:

Devin, thanks for the comment. Y’all barely beat Houston. Saban will be good again, just not this year.

3-9? That is hilarious. At WORST, Bama goes 7-5. With a few breaks they could go 9-3.

… All but one of the reversed calls due to replay were correct. The catch by Matt Caddel being ruled complete was correct. He had his hands under the ball, secured it to his chest, then as he hit the ground, the tip of the ball touches the ground. This, by rule, is a catch. The officials missed it. It’s just one of the breaks that Bama had to go against them. If replay did not exist, the game would have been a blowout… in Bama’s favor. Good luck to Les and LSU the rest of the year… I hope they bring another National Title home to the SEC. Oh… and to Les next year at UM too… he’ll need it… especially if App St. is on the schedule.

  23. lsufootballanalyst Says:

I’ll give you the Caddell catch, but that wouldn’t have won you the game. You have to admit that the refs won the game for you against Ole Miss and Arkansas.

Boy did you post this on the wrong weekend. Little did you know that I was correct and that old st. nick would lay a gargantuan turd against UL-Monroe. You are no better with Saban than you were with Shula, being 1-3 against top 30 teams. This is the truth. Saban is also doing one hell of a job recruiting. This is also the truth.

Nice shot at Les. If he leaves maybe we can get another no-name coach and whup your ass in Baton Rouge.
